L&T Hydrocarbon engineering, part of L&T group, a $21 Billion a year conglomerate based in India, has awarded Aesthetix a key deal to install pipeline leak detection systems for the prestigious Haliba oil field, also known as the Area 1 onshore oil field, on the south-east border of Abu Dhabi owned by Al Dhafra Petroleum Operations Co. Ltd.

Scope of work for the project included the design, engineering, supply and site services for pipeline Leak Detection Systems (PLDS) for the pipeline structures covering 65 km’s of 16” multiphase crude oil pipelines.

Highly advanced, Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) systems using fibre optic cables were deployed for the project in lieu of older and volatile leak detection methods. These superior systems are capable of detecting small, medium and large scale leakages greatly reducing leakage associated risks.

“Myself and the team are always ecstatic to land technically advanced projects, big thanks to Al Dhafra for trusting us and helping us keep this momentum. Looking forward to even bigger challenges”says Manoj Ali, Head of Projects at Aesthetix.

Al Dhafra Petroleum Operations Co: Its a joint venture between Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC, 60%) and Korea National Oil Corporation (KNOC, 30%) and GS Energy (10%), which was established in 2014.
