The inspiration behind each solution is understanding people and human behaviour. Integrating this to the process of design helps create better products, effective services and efficient systems. Ergonomics study is an essential offering by Aesthetix where we customise designs and arrange workplaces, products and systems in a way that they improve productivity of the people who use them. Our ergonomic solutions make employees more comfortable and relaxed in their work environment and increase quality of output. The Oil and Gas, energy, defence and transportation sectors are very demanding and require quick decision making from the personnel. The stressful environment, extreme temperature, awkward posture or repeated movement adversely affect the musculoskeletal system of the operators. We offer two core services of Human Factor Engineering and Control room Ergonomics.
Human Factor Engineering
At Aesthetix, Human-factor engineering (HFE) is a collection of data and principles about human characteristics, capabilities, and limitations in relation to machines, jobs, and environments and other socio-technical systems. HFE is undertaken to create and design systems that optimise human productivity and curtail the probability of design-induced risks to health, personnel, process safety or environmental performance.
We undertake extensive research on Human Factors and Users. Most engineering projects are larger than life and have massive capacities being built in different locations. The possibility of testing such products and systems happens only after they are built. The efforts, resources, time and money invested in building them can become foolproof with prior human factor engineering. It helps to forecast what will happen once the end product is ready and reduces the possibilities of errors, accidents, mishaps, and discomfort to a large extent. Further, it fosters operational efficiency and maintainability. User analysis helps in creating the right product with due consideration of the environment, end-user and the end goal.
At Aesthetix We Undertake Holistic Study In HFE For The Following
- Defining HF requirements from the concept to the whole project life-cycle
- Developing HF strategy documents and Human Factors Plans
- Undertaking HFE validation (e.g. HF reviews of general arrangements, 3D model reviews) at the time of FEED and Detailed design phase
We Offer HFE In The Following Scope
- Safety Critical task screening and Analysis
- Valve Criticality Analysis (VCA)
- Working Environment Health Risk Assessment (WEHRA)
- Human Machine Interface (HMI) Analysis

Control Room Ergonomics
We undertake in-depth study and look into minute aspects of the human factor while designing their facilities; be it control rooms, local equipments rooms, process areas or any other human machine interfaces. Height, angle, weight, posture, etc. are taken into deep consideration while creating the most functional and user friendly work atmosphere. We are trained to be intuitive and adjust effortlessly to the user creating solutions to promote daily movement and physical activity, while supporting the user’s posture. Our analysis includes functional, task analysis, alarm management etc on the basis of which design solutions are created.
Our team of proficient offer expertise in Control Room layout, Console Layout, Display locations, Lighting Layouts, Environmental factors besides others based on ISO standards as detailed below:
- ISO 11064-1:2000 Principles for the design of control centers
- ISO 11064-2:2000 Principles for the arrangement of control suites
- ISO 11064-3:1999 Control room layout
- ISO 11064-4:2004 Layout and dimensions of workstations
- ISO 11064-5:2008 Displays and controls
- ISO 11064-6:2005 Environmental requirements for control centers
- ISO 11064-7:2006 Principles for the evaluation of control centers
- ISO 9241 Ergonomics of Human System Interaction
- Other Standards like Shell DEP, BP, etc.
With a complete brief from the client we engage in generating first hand information from the operators, supervisors and all other stake holders while understanding their latent needs and expectations. After a through written assessment report we look at possible design options that would best justify the ideal control room. Our core features include functionality, safety and aesthetics at all points in time.
Our core features include functionality, safety and aesthetics at all points in time and services bifurcated into two aspects – Architecture and Technology.
Architecture
At Aesthetix we offer Ergonomics solutions for control rooms that go deeper than aesthetics. Our designs are based on functionality.
- Each project brings dynamic variables like electricity distribution, lighting, air control, visibility or certain manufacturing processes demanding 100% customisation in architecture and interior designing.
- Our core solutions ensure well planned and prioritised layout of equipment to improve performance of each task.
- We ensure all critical and important information has prominence and clear visibility.
- Our furniture is flexible and adjustable to guarantee comfort for user.
- Utmost attention to every minute detail while designing and delivering 100% customized control rooms with the most relevant and innovative architectural solutions.
- Well thought of technical furniture must like cutting-edge consoles
Room Architecture
- Size and Layout: The control room is the backbone of a workstation. The size and layout of the control room is determined keeping in mind the number of users and equipment it will house.
- Shape - Control rooms can be created out of several spaces. We always recommend a rectangular shape as it creates optimum space and opportunity for best display and console positioning.
- Ceiling and Wall Panels - Ceiling materials and wall panels have a strong impact on room illumination. We choose materials that improve light distribution throughout the room and ultimately reducing energy cost.
- Flooring –We focus on flooring materials that improve illumination, acoustics, and cable management systems.
- Landscape & Indoor Plantations– Green spaces and landscaping are mood elevators that greatly improve efficiency and work productivity amongst the users.
We optimise control room spaces to create real and artificial indoor plants for long-term sustainable benefits.
- Aesthetix – We design customized consoles with company logos, images and designs that build on corporate identity.
- Windows – Natural sunlight is a psychological booster amongst control room operators.
- Lighting – Illumination levels affect human physiology, alertness and work performance. It is essential to have adequate light for operators to perform tasks without experiencing eyestrain.
- Glass partitions – Glass partitions create adequate privacy for operators and still give largeness to the control room. Sound proof glasses reduce the noise pollution and cut off unwanted sounds for the operator.
- Furniture – The console size, configuration and placement is done with consideration to the size, layout and dimension of the control room. Furniture is designed and placed to optimise ideal viewing angles.
Technology
- Video walls - A matrix of projectors or monitors that function together as a single, unit is called a video wall. Video walls are useful for showcasing large images and and enormous data that cannot be displayed and comprehended on smaller screens.
- Technical furniture-Our design team undertakes research and planning to customize technical furniture like desks and chairs that are backed with a story of excellence behind it.
- Audio visual equipments –From data sharing and multi-person audio calls, to high definition videoconferencing systems and cameras, we design and create Audio Visual equipments that meet your needs.
